Parents of 4 and 6 year-old girls

Julie and Alida do an absolutely outstanding job in their leadership of FLS.

As parents we feel very engaged in and involved, and that we have a really good oversight of what our two children are doing and how they are getting on. That is down to the efforts of Julie and Alida who take great efforts to communicate with and update parents on a regular basis, and are always very responsive to our questions.

As parents we are incredibly glad we chose FLS for our children.

The Family Learning School is a wonderful and nurturing environment for any young child. My son had been at a competitive prep school that had really dented his confidence. He was able to flourish and grow at FLS. It was wonderful to see.

The child-led, learning through play, model is a wonderful base that all schools should adopt in the early years until the age of 6. They take their duties very seriously on safeguarding which is always reassuring.

I hope to see FLS go from strength to strength in years to come. They are pioneers, enriching the children’s life education.

We remain delighted with FLS which always remains very true to the principles and values it set out back in 2017. Communication is always transparent, helpful and seeks input and multiple points of view. This further strengthens a trusting relationship between families and staff. Pivoting to a remote-led curriculum during the pandemic, which also met the unique approach of FLS, in a short space of time was a fantastic achievement.

FLS has made an incredible difference to our daughter and to our family. School has become something which she enjoys and makes a really positive difference to her life. The pressures of testing and homework being removed have had an incredibly positive impact on both our daughter and on family life. We have seen her self-confidence and resilience grow.

Having time to enjoy play and having her creativity valued is something which our daughter often comments on. She regularly spoke about lack of both at her previous school and this had a negative impact on her self-worth. Her confidence with her maths has also noticeably improved.

My daughter joined FLS after being home educated for 5 years.  I have found the staff and leadership of FLS absolutely brilliant in listening to my concerns and taking account of them.

Thank you Team FLS. I wish I could hug you all.  I've never seen our daughter so happy and settled anywhere and I can't imagine a better environment for her.

From first stepping through the door at an FLS open day, we could see this would be an environment where our son would do well. The small class sizes with mixed ages really engages our son through tailored learning and peer support, and we are delighted to see his preferred styles of learning (tactile learning, learning through imaginative play, love of books) being supported by FLS’ approach.

We have been incredibly impressed with how thoughtful and considered decisions are approached. I believe good management and leadership not only makes decisions but communicates them in a way which explains how these decisions have been arrived at, which I think is done very well at FLS.

Staff must be an excellent indicator of the leadership at a school and we are continually blown away but the calibre of teachers at FLS.

We feel like we are part of a fantastic learning community being led incredibly well by Julie and Alida.
