A Typical Day

 

The schedule below is a guideline to a typical classroom-based day at FLS, should you choose a full day option.

Session One - children learn in mixed aged groups. Depending on the task, they may be grouped by ability, learning style or interests. Activities and projects are differentiated to ensure all children can achieve and make progress. Teachers strike a balance between child-led and adult-led learning, depending on topic and learning styles of children. Planned activities foster creativity, independent thinking as well as team work, problem solving, critical thinking, numeracy, literacy and confidence building.

Children have a 30 minute break in this session to have a snack and play either indoors or outdoors.

12.00
Children gather together to reflect on their morning and enjoy a 5 minute mindfulness / meditation session.

Lunch. Children sit and eat together in mixed-age groups. They start lunch showing expressing gratitude and saying ‘We thank you for our food. We thank you for our families. We thank you for our friends.’ Lunch is followed by outdoor playtime or children can choose to remain indoors and play games or continue with their projects.

Session Two - children have a range of options to choose from, booked termly.

15 minute play time outside before being collected from the tennis court.

Home time. Minibus leaves Skeet Hill for Catford drop-off.
